About Us

What started off as an average family trip to the Zoo, quickly grew into what is now Van Biluk Press.

The inspiration for our fist story "Karen, the Helpful Heron" came from a rhyming game, and a hypothetical conversaion of what a heron named Karen would be like. She never left our imaginations, and would come back into the forefront from time to time. Where would she live? Who would be her friends? What would she be like? Would she be a stereotypical "Karen"?! No! Not our heron, she would be helpful and kind, even at the worst of times.

One evening, over an Italian dinner, Karen made another apperance. This time we decided to put pen to paper and couldn't believe the journey that Karen has sent us on.  

We are proud to present to you our very first book,

We hope you will fall in love with Karen, and all of her feathered friends, just as much as we did. We know that "Karen, the Helpful Heron" caputues the true character of friendship, patients and kindess in a story that both grown ups and children will delight in and want to read agian and again.
